Enterobiosis - A parasitic, fairly common disease that is caused by small parasites - pinworms. As a rule, pinworms parasitize in the lower intestine. Under favorable conditions, helminths are able to enter the female genital organs and have a toxic, allergenic and mechanical effect on the body.

Causes of Enterobiasis

Most often, infection occurs through contaminated objects or dirty hands. A man touching the skin in the anus, thereby infecting his hands with pinworm eggs. Also, infection can provoke hand contamination from underwear and bedding, where larvae get from the skin of a sick person. It has already been proven that cockroaches and flies can carry pinworm eggs. Enterobiosis is a very common parasitic disease, considered the most common infectious problem in the world.

Symptoms of Enterobiosis

The main symptom of this parasitic disease is severe bouts of nocturnal itching in the anus, which is periodically repeated depending on the stage of development of the parasites. Patients often experience nausea, lack of appetite, diarrhea, sleep disturbance, dizziness, etc. Helminths can cause dermatitis and eczema in the anus and perineum, and in women pinworms often cause vulvovaginitis.

Diagnosis and treatment of enterobiasis

The final diagnosis is established by a specialist on the basis of eggs and pinworms found. Treatment of this disease should be carried out comprehensively, simultaneously in all persons in contact with the patient. Bed and underwear should be ironed carefully with an iron with a maximum temperature. To mechanically remove pinworms and mucus, a cotton swab is introduced into the area of the anus at night. For fast and effective deworming use piperazine, pyrantel, vermox and other similar drugs.

Enterobiasis Prevention

The main recommendations for a hygienic regime in the foci of enterobiosis include such measures as:

1. Invasive patients should sleep in closed underwear - with elastic bands around the waist and legs;
2. Enterobiosis is a parasitic disease of dirty hands. It is the cleanliness of nails and hands that is the basis for a successful recovery;
3. A mandatory measure for a speedy recovery is the washing of the pre-canal area at night and in the morning after waking up;
4. If the patient is concerned about itching in the anus, then before bedtime, soda enemas can be performed;
5. It is necessary to wash the body daily with soap, take a shower;

In the presence of invasion after an evening toilet and hygiene procedures, it is recommended to lay a cotton swab in the anus area at night. This measure prevents the pinworms from spreading, relieves the patient from itching and irritation, and also prevents the parasites from crawling into the vagina in women and girls.

According to A.V. Markin, only the appointment of a cotton swab for enterobiosis in a patient leads to a decrease in invasion by 2-6 times, while the drug treatment reduces the invasion by 2 times. Therefore, it is possible to cope with parasites without medicines, if all hygiene measures prescribed by the doctor are clearly observed for one month. It is necessary to carry out daily wet cleaning of the premises, change bed and underwear daily, wash in the morning and evening with warm water and soap solution, be sure to wear thick clothes that are pre-boiled and ironed. Enterobiosis patients often need to trim their nails, wash their hands with soap before each meal and after visiting the toilet.
