The number 13 is considered unhappy by different nations for many centuries. According to statistics, this is the most common superstition on earth. In some cities there are no streets with number 13, houses under this number, and in houses there are thirteenth floors and apartments. The Turks did not like 13 so much that at one time they did not even write this word in the dictionary. However, in Asian countries, on the contrary, the "damn dozen" is considered a number, bringing good luck.

British scientists conducted an interesting experiment: for several years they compared the number of accidents that occurred on Friday 6 and 13 numbers. Surprisingly, despite the fact that people on “black Friday” tried to get behind the wheel less often, the number of accidents increased by an average of 52%.

The portal "Women's Opinion" conducted a study to find out how modern Russian women belong to this number.

The survey showed that 46.9% of Russian women have no time to be distracted by superstition. They don’t believe in the “damn dozen” and don’t give it a meaning: “What’s wrong with it? It’s no different from 20 or 150,” they say.

27.3% are not afraid if they encounter the number 13, but still it is alarming them.

22.2% actually love thirteen., Associating with various pleasant moments in their lives. On this day, they or their loved ones have a birthday or anniversary of another joyful event, so there is no time to be afraid and discouraged on this day.

Superstitious women remained in the minority, who consider 13 to be a truly unlucky sign - 3.6% turned out to be such.

These results have their own logic, fueled by history. The fact is that before, 13 was considered the "female number": the lunar months were correlated with the average calendar of monthly cycles for women per year (13х28 = 326). Perhaps that’s why women intuitively feel that the number 13 doesn’t threaten them.

1940 Russian women from 20 to 45 years old from 123 cities of Russia took part in the survey.
