Condyloma is an inflammatory phenomenon that is expressed by a specific proliferation of mucous membranes and skin. In the case of neglect of the disease, condylomas often develop into ulcers. The disease requires timely treatment, although self-medication is not excluded.

The main cause of genital warts is the human papillomavirus. However, in many people, this virus is at rest and has no effect on health. A provoking factor in the development of condyloma is the untidiness of a person and non-compliance with a number of hygiene standards.
Condyloma - Symptoms
Condylomas usually occur in places that are injured during sexual intercourse. And from the time of infection with the virus to the appearance of the first genital warts, it can take from a week to several years.
The disease begins to manifest itself with warty formations of flesh or pink color, which are located on the genitals. The size of these formations varies from a millimeter to several centimeters, while rashes can grow, becoming a cauliflower.
In men, condylomas often occur on the head of the penis, the crown of the head, the inner leaf of the foreskin and the bridle. In women, the large and small labia, the frenulum of the labia, the external opening of the urethra, the clitoris, the hymen, the cervix and the vagina are affected.
Condyloma - diagnosis
As a rule, for the diagnosis of genital warts, a doctor's examination is enough, with a typical course of the disease, there is no need to determine the type of human papillomavirus. When making a diagnosis, it is necessary to exclude diseases such as wide warts (one of the manifestations of syphilis), as well as molluscum contagiosum.
For pointed genital warts in men, a papular necklace of the penis is often taken (manifested by the presence on the penis of several rows of separately located papules, the diameter of which is 1-2 mm), but this case is not a deviation from the norm.
In women, microapapillomatosis of the labia (individual papules that are symmetrically located in the vestibule region or on the inner surface of the labia) can be taken for condylomas.
Condyloma - treatment and prevention
Modern medicine offers a large number of methods for treating genital warts, however, none of these methods can get rid of the human papillomavirus. Modern condyloma therapy is inherently symptomatic, its main goal is to reduce the impact of disease symptoms on the patient's life
Cryodestruction with liquid nitrogen. This method involves the destruction of genital warts using low temperatures. The procedure does not require anesthesia, is easily tolerated and does not leave scars.
Laser treatment. The method involves burning with genital warts by a laser. The procedure requires anesthesia, and it also has residual scars. Laser therapy is used as a backup treatment.
Electrocoagulation Exposure to the focus of the disease of high temperatures. The method also requires anesthesia and is characterized by residual scars.
Use of the drug podophyllotoxin (contraindicated for pregnant women of childbearing age during treatment, reliable contraception is necessary). The drug causes necrosis of genital warts. Of the side effects, moderate burning and soreness can be noted. Treatment with the drug is recommended to be carried out under the supervision of a doctor, despite the fact that detailed instructions are attached to the medicine.
Prevention of genital warts requires careful observance of the rules of personal hygiene.
